By car: 

“La Cacatúa Lodge” is located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, 18 kilometer south of Dominical and 1.5 kilometers from the village of Uvita. From San Jose you can reach "La Cacatúa Lodge" by car in about four hours.

From San Jose by car there are two different routes you can come to Uvita.

The first route passes the mountain "El Cerro del Muerte" which leads through a beautiful various countryside until you get through the cool cloud forest to the top. The road winds slowly down and go through the bustling town of San Isidro de El General to Dominical surfers village. As you reach the highway, the "La Costanera". This highway leads all the way to Panama, you drive along the most beautiful beaches to the south until you finally reach Uvita. "La Cacatúa Lodge" is located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the main road of Uvita, the "La Costanera". You drive by Uvita, pass the bridge, pass "Banco Nacional" and just before “Cabinas Gato" take the exit to your left to the mountain road “La Union". Follow this road for 1,5 kilometers. Take the second larger exit and turn left, follow the road until you reach "La Cacatúa Lodge".

The second route is from San Jose to the west coast where you follow the new road along the towns Jaco, Quepos and Dominical until you finally reach Uvita. "La Cacatúa Lodge" is located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the main road of Uvita, the "La Costanera". You drive by Uvita, on the bridge, you pass "Banco Nacional" and just before "Cabinas Gato" take the exit to your left. This is the mountain road "La Union". Follows the road for 1,5 kilometers. In the second larger exit turn left and follows the road until you reach "La Cacatúa Lodge”.

The mountain road adjacent to a protected tropical rainforest where many different species of tropical wildlife lives.

By public transport:

Costa Rica has a fairly good public transport and almost all major towns are accessible by bus. From San Jose there is a bus from the company “MUSOC” to San Isidro El General (endpoint) every half hour from 6,30 AM till 6,30 PM. You can then change to the local bus to Uvita. The station to Uvita is about a fifteen minutes walks. This bus runs twice a day, at 09.00 hours and 16.00 hours, to Uvita. Notice us at least one day before your arrival and we will pick you up and bring you to our lodge for free.
