La Cacatúa Lodge is a romantic small hotel / B & B located in one of the most beautiful spots near Uvita in the south of Costa Rica.
You will find La Cacatúa Lodge opposite of the entrance of the road to the National Park Marino Ballena and only a few minutes away from the charming villages of Uvita and Bahia Ballena (Whale Bay). The National Park Marino Ballena is known of the many whales and dolphin species you can see most of the year. In addition, the breeding grounds of the “Olive Ridley” and “Hawksbill” turtle are protected. Also here is one of the largest coral reefs in the Pacific: the “Whale tail” which fully emerges at low tide.
From our lodge you can do a beautiful hike to have a fantastic view of the “Whale tail”.
The hotel offers a beautiful tropical garden where our rooms and studios are located and consists of a mix of tropical fruit trees, plants, flowers and shrubs. Our garden attracts tens thereby birds and butterflies but also other animals such as sloths, monkeys, anteaters, armadillos and iguanas.
Furthermore is the Lodge an ideal base for exploring the national parks Manuel Antonio, Corcovado, Chirripo and Marino Ballena.
In the area there is plenty to do for both the active and the relaxed holidaymaker, including bird watching, hiking, horseback riding, scuba diving, snorkeling, ultra-light flying, canopy, rafting, hiking, etc. Relaxing on one of the many beaches or in one of our hammocks at our pool with jacuzzi is also possible.
Uvita has a number of restaurants, a few bars, Internet cafes, several banks and two fairly large supermarkets. In Bahia Ballena you find the souvenir shops and some restaurants and bars.
